| How to resolve
MSBlast Worm causing computer shutdowns |

If your system is continually rebooting (restarting) or
you want to ensure that your computer is safe from the MSBlast Worm,
please follow the steps outlined below.
- Press and hold down the Control
and Alt keys and then hit your Delete
key once.
- Click the Task Manager
button.
- Click on the Processes
tab.

- Click the Image Name
column to sort the list in alphabetical order.

- If you see msblast.exe
file, click on it once. Then, click the End
Process button. If you do not see msblast.exe in
the list of running tasks, please proceed to Step 6 to apply the Microsoft patch and check your system for
the Worm.

- Now you can close the Windows
Task Manager screen by clicking the X
in the upper right hand corner.
- Next you will need to determine
which operating system you are using. Click on the Start button,
go up to Run and type winver. The window displayed will
indicate which operating system is being used (Windows® 2000,
Windows® XP, etc.) If you are running Windows 95, 98 or ME you
will not be affected by this worm.
- Once you have determined your
operating system click on the link for your operating system
from the Microsoft
Web site.

- Click download
on the right side of the page.

- Choose Run from this
location or Open.

- Confirm security warning pop-up
by clicking Yes.
- Follow pop-up instructions.
- Once your computer has finished
click this
link and when prompted click open.
- Click the Start
button displayed on the Symantec W32.Blaster.Worm.Fix
Tool. The tool will begin analyzing your files and
folders for the worm and may take several minutes to complete.

- When it has finished, you will
have successfully checked your system for the MSBlast Worm and
installed the patch.
